Chi Insurance Review - Travel

Chi offers travel insurance underwritten by Allianz, one of the most well-known companies in Australia, not mentioning the most trusted as well. However the one thing that really caught my eyes is that it is stated on Chi’s website that they are one of the oldest travel insurers in Australia. Whether or not this is true, I don’t know, however if it is true, it would imply they would have many years of experience in the industry and would therefore be able to issue quality policies. On the side note, I do see that they have a list of attractive plans that travellers will be able to choose from.

One way to prove that Chi really cares about their customers is that they have a list of updated travel news on their website that may affect people going away. They include information about airport closure, government shutdowns, as well as natural disasters like earthquakes and floods. I found this feature to be very useful and would no doubt benefit their customers in more ways than they can imagine by helping them avoid possible unfortunate events.

Plans come in two categories; Traditional and Basic. And under each of them included further plans such as comprehensive, domestic, medical & liability, frequent traveller and more. One reason why I thought this was attractive is that there would be a high chance you will find a cover to suit your needs, and also because there are so many choices, you can also be guaranteed to be able to find a policy that is affordable.

For example, I discovered that getting a Medical & Liability policy would be a great way to get an affordable policy and only be insured against the things more important to you; your health and liability.

Regardless which plan you choose, the summary of benefits are all pretty similar. This was evident inside their brochure PDF that I downloaded from their website. Some of the features that I found to be very worthwhile are travel services provider insolvency, additional expenses, loss of income, luggage and personal effects, delays, and many more.

In terms of pre-existing conditions, I was happy to see that Chi have provided a list of pre-existing medical conditions that may be covered. The list includes eczema, hay fever, rosacea, gastic reflux and many more. It is not every day you will be able to find an insurer that offers such an extensive list.
