Travel Insurance Direct Review

Travel Insurance Direct has been named as one of the best insurers for a while now. According to several reviews and testimonies, TID has been able to provide cheaper premiums to their customers as well as offering a great number of features. Here we will find out more about them and how they can benefit travellers.

There are two types of coverage that you can pick from; Family and Single. With just a quick glance at the benefits I can already say that I am truly impressed.

Family cover is the plan with the highest level of claim limits. The most obvious one was that luggage and personal effects have a limit of $24,000 and trip disruption has a limit of $4,000. In fact, after a general overview I saw that the amount you can claim for each of the things you are covered for is twice as much as the Single plan. This makes it very useful for families with kids.

Moving onto the Single cover, the coverage is almost identical to a Family cover however some reasons why you would want to prefer this over Family is that there are several claim limits that are the same. For example, the benefit limit for rental vehicle insurance excess, return of rental vehicle and personal liability were all the same.

On the other hand, regardless of which plan you decide to take out there are some things that you can be sure you will be covered for. The things that really stuck out to me were domestic pets and domestic services. Another thing to know is that ski insurance is automatically included in their policy which means you won’t have to get out of your own way to purchase it separately.

Enough of what is covered; I was also surprised to see that Travel Insurance Direct offered a page that details what is not covered. In short, most of the uncovered things are pretty reasonable such as brainless behaviours and drinking alcohol. Also, one point worth mentioning is that overseas childbirth is not being covered, but thinking about it again, if you are pregnant you shouldn’t be travelling in the first place anyways.

So you’ve purchased a policy, gone off away and sudden realises you need to make a claim. What you should do about it? According to TID’s website, you can lodge in your claim easily online and follow ten easy steps. Remember to be prepared to show supporting documents such as receipts, proof of travel and even credit card statements.
