Westpac Insurance Review - Travel, Car, Life

I know plenty of people have chosen Westpac Insurance due to the ease that they may already be a customer of their other banking products, or simply because Westpac is one of the biggest financial companies in Australia. Whatever the case may be, I was actually quite content with all the insurance products they offer.

The first thing that came to mind seeing their huge range of insurance selections is that they are big enough of an organisation to satisfy the needs of every customer. This proves Westpac is trustable and has a good reputation.

What I can see, it seems like their home and contents insurance is their most popular product. There are plans for residential homes as well as landlords. I was particularly interested with the residential package because several discounts can be offered as well as the quality of protection. For example, there are three types of levels; Essential Care, Quality Care and Premier Care. I looked through the list of benefits and saw all the essential things are included like accidental loss and damage, legal cover and jewellery cover, which is always a good sign.

The next most popular product must be car insurance. Unlike other insurers with many levels of cover, what I like about Westpac is that they have simplified their plans into two levels: Comprehensive and Third party property damage with bodily injury cover. You will be covered for loss, damage as well as theft, which are all important things.

When I looked through all the life insurance choices, I was amazed by the long list of products. Beside the normal term life insurance and lifetime insurance, there are also mortgage insurance and estate insurance. The benefit with having these covers is so that you can be sure that you will be able to continue paying back all the money you owe. In the case if you die or unable to work, Westpac will be able to provide you with some payments. Seeing already how big Westpac is, there is no doubt they will be able to pay you.

When you go away on a holiday, the important thing is that you have taken out insurance. Again, the levels of cover have been simplified into two plans; Holiday Travel Insurance and Frequent Traveller Insurance. The fact that enthralled me is that both of these covers are certain to include medical cover, protection against cancellation as well as unlimited overseas medical expenses.

The other types of policies Westpac offer are:

  • Credit and loan repayment insurance
  • Disability and living insurance
  • Income protection insurance
